Nebraska has apparently made a killing in recruitment this January. They are probably going to get Blades from Pasadena and they garnered Tyjon Lindsey‘s commitment on January 14th. Lindsey is a wide receiver from Las Vegas football powerhouse Bishop Gorman.

Lindsey is the No. 1 player from Nevada, the No. 7 wide receiver, and the No. 50 player nationally in the 2017 recruiting class. 247 Sports has Lindsey as a four-star recruit with a 0.9756 grade. He can also return kicks for the Cornhuskers.

Lindsey chose Nebraska over Ohio State, Oregon and USC. Perhaps the opportunity of early playing time and knowing what he will get out of a proven head coach with West Coast roots in Riley helped land Lindsey’s stellar commitment. Losing it isn’t likely, but Nebraska will fall out of the top 25 should he sign elsewhere on February 1st.

Every Power 5 school of significance has a reach player it should target before National Signing Day. Getting his signing is a bit of a pipe dream, but sometimes swinging for the fences can be fruitful. Nebraska’s reach prospect this year is wide receiver Joseph Lewis from Los Angeles.

Lewis is the No. 4 wide receiver, the No. 6 player from California, and the No. 31 player nationally in the 2017 recruiting class. 247Sports has him as a five-star recruit with a 0.9841 grade. Lewis visited Nebraska back on October 1st. For him, it comes down to two schools: Nebraska and USC.

USC is an overwhelming favorite to keep Lewis in Los Angeles. Letting him leave Southern California for Lincoln would not be a good thing for Clay Helton’s rising Trojans program. Lewis will probably sign with USC, but Nebraska has better than a snowball’s chance to land him on National Signing Day. It would be an upset, but not entirely impossible for Lewis to commit to Nebraska.
