The Texas A&M Aggies have the No. 9 recruiting class heading into National Signing Day 2017. Here are the five players Texas A&M must land by February 1st.

Kevin Sumlin is putting together another solid recruiting class in 2017. Heading into 2017 National Signing Day on Wednesday, Feb. 1, the Aggies have the No. 9 class, according to 247Sports. The Aggies have 26 commitments, nine of whom are early enrollees.

While Sumlin has not garnered a commitment from a five-star player this recruiting cycle, he has land nine four-stars and a whopping 17 three-star recruits. Of the Power 5 schools in Texas, the Aggies are the only team from the Lone Star State in the top 10 of this recruiting cycle.

Sumlin has to recognize that this is a pivotal recruiting class for him College Station. Tom Herman has taken over at arch in-state rival Texas. He should have that Longhorns program humming here soon. For Sumlin to land another top-10 class, here are the five players he must land for National Signing Day.

Defensive tackle may very well be the most important position in the SEC. Dominating up front defensively is paramount to have success in the tough SEC West for the Aggies. One player that Texas A&M needs to hold on to is defensive tackle Jayden Peevy from Bellaire.

Peevy is the No. 17 defensive tackle, the No. 44 player from Texas and the No. 301 player in the 2017 recruiting class. 247Sports has him as a four-star recruit with a 0.8948 grade. Peevy initially committed to Texas A&M on August 26th.

Though Peevy has not wavered in his commitment to the Aggies, Matt Rhule’s Baylor Bears are making a serious push to pry him away from College Station. It all fairness, it seems inevitable that Peevy will stick with the Aggies through National Signing Day. However, Baylor seems to be the one team that could flip Peevy away from Texas A&M.
