Hoop-Dreaming: DraftKings NBA GPP Plays for Saturday 1-28-17

Thanks for clicking!  I am going to be breaking down tonight’s DraftKings NBA action and discussing the various picks that are aimed to help win some money on DraftKings.  The picks are mainly geared for GPP tournaments and will carry more risk but also offer more reward.  After all, we are seeking to have one of our tickets be the winner amongst hundreds of thousands of other entries.

There is a 7 game NBA slate tonight on DraftKings and there are expected to be some competitive and high scoring contests.  The Denver Nuggets against the Phoenix Suns as well as the Milwaukee Bucks against Boston Celtics are two of the best games to draft players from as they have high projected totals.

Of course, there are always injuries which will open the door for some players to significantly outperform their salary.  Make sure and check Fantasy CPR for other helpful NBA articles.  Also, don’t forget to look for lineup changes periodically throughout the day and especially before tipoff.  Also, you can find me in your GPP tournaments.  Let’s take a look at tonight’s games.

Point Guards and Shooting Guards

With much of the focus rightfully being on Isaiah Thomas and Giannis Antetokounmpo, rookie Malcolm Brogdon ($4,900) is in a great position to slip under the radar and have an excellent game.  This game is currently listed as a “pick-em” with a total of 220 points, meaning that we could be in store for some overtime as well as plenty of DraftKings fantasy points to go around.  Brogdon has upside at this price point and 6x value is within reach.

The ball finally saw the bottom of the net for Jamal Crawford ($4,500) and he was able to have a breakout game.  His salary is still in a great spot and people may not be targeting him tonight.  The minutes will continue to be there for him and hopefully his jumper will also.

The Denver Nuggets are tough to pin down in terms of production which makes Will Barton ($5,400) a riskier play than most.  The projected point total is high and the spread is low so the opportunity will be there for Barton.

Making his second start after a knee injury, Rodney Hood ($4,000) will look to shake off the rust and turn in a positive game tonight.  He is more than capable of hitting 8x his salary but we’re hoping for somewhere around 6x.

His price has risen with his production but Devin Booker ($7,100) still has a rather high ceiling even at this price point.  At a lesser price than Eric Bledsoe, Booker could be a useful alternative while also saving salary space.

Small Forwards and Power Forwards

There is still hope that T.J. Warren ($4,600) could break out of the current slump he is in and return to consistent form.  An uptempo matchup with a Nuggets team that does not defend the wing well might be cure for Warren.

There is massive blowout potential between the Los Angeles Clippers and the Golden State Warriors which makes Draymond Green ($7,700) a fringe option.  At his salary point he is capable of having huge outings but if the game gets out of hand then he will likely only play 3 quarters.

Foul trouble limited Giannis Antetokounmpo ($10,300) last night but he returned to have a great second half.  His salary is still a tad steep but he’s capable of a monster game on any night.  Against a smaller Boston Celtics team, Giannis should have no problem getting where he wants on the floor.

Jae Crowder ($5,800) will be expected to guard Giannis tonight but will also be looking to do some damage of his own.  This game should be played at a quick pace which will let Crowder setup for transition three pointers while also allowing him to use his length and garner steals.

Still waiting for a downpour of points is Danilo Gallinari ($6,00) who has a great matchup with the Phoenix Suns tonight.  The game is expected to be high scoring and close which gives Gallinari the opportunity to let the ball fly from deep.

Centers – The Men in the Middle

With Al Horford out, Kelly Olynk ($4,200) will see a bump in minutes and production.  With his versatility, Olynk is a steal at this price point and he should thrive in an uptempo game tonight.

Andre Drummond ($7,400) is one of the most frustrating players to roster in the NBA.  He is capable of ridiculously huge games but often comes up disappointingly short.  With the disappointment comes resentment from owners which will lead to lower ownership when he does have a big game.

Rudy Gobert ($7,000) still has not seen his salary catch up with his potential production and at his current salary he is more than capable of 6x value.  The game will not be played at a fast pace and this could hamper the opportunities that Gobert has to clean the glass and block shots.

Looking to benefit from a fast paced game tonight is Greg Monroe ($5,400) who seems to be finding a nice role in the offense lately.  Which means that Jason Kidd is probably going to switch things up just for kicks.  However, I think that Monroe is a great play tonight.

Thanks for reading and best of luck tonight!
