Congo face Ghana in the African Cup of Nations on Sunday, Jan. 29. Here’s all the info you need to watch.
It was a successful group stage for both Congo and Ghana. Both teams finished in the top two of their respective group. They’ll face off on Sunday in African Cup of Nations quaterfinals action.
Congo won Group C with seven points and one point ahead of Group C runner-up Morocco. They earned the seven points with wins against Morocco and Togo and a tie against defending AFCON champions Ivory Coast. Shockingly, Ivory Coast finished third in their group and fell short of being able to defend their title any longer.
On the other hand, Ghana advanced to the quarterfinals by finishing in second in Group D behind Egypt. Ghana impressed in the group stage matches by earning six points. Their loss to Egypt was only 1-0, which was closer than what many soccer pundits predicted. Ghana finished in second at the last AFCON tournament and look to continue their recent success in international play at the rest of this tournament.
