DraftKings Late NBA Picks for January 29

There are seven games for our Saturday DraftKings main tournament. Some of these teams are on the tail end of a back to back outing, so watch out for sitting players. There were a ton of players sitting last night. Will it happen again tonight?

Don’t forget to follow @fantasycpr on Twitter for lineup updates as we get them leading to the tipoffs of the games! I am not always able to get back in here and fix my picks when someone sits for the night, but we will update it on Twitter.

More from DFS

Most of my picks end up being a little on the conservative side, so these lineups may be better suited for cash games, though I usually play both types.

Jan 27, 2017; Atlanta, GA, USA; Washington Wizards guard John Wall (2) dribbles against the Atlanta Hawks in the first quarter at Philips Arena. Mandatory Credit: Brett Davis-USA TODAY Sports

Point Guards

Best Bets:

John Wall ($9,800): Wall has averaged 48.2 DraftKings points per game over the last ten games. He is a consistent threat to 5x value, even at this price. The matchup is right against the Pelicans tonight. Wall could flirt with 60.

Jrue Holiday ($7,500): Holiday has averaged 52.3 DraftKings points over his last three games. I think it’s safe to say that the injuries are behind him, and he is back to the caliber that he was before. It’s a fairly small sample, but he has another good matchup coming up with Washington. He has been a force with Anthony Davis limited or out.
Honorable Mention:

Jeff Teague ($7,200): Teague does leave something to be desired in the consistency department, but he has reached 5x value in seven of the last ten games. He was above 6x value in four of those. He is producing at a high level right now, and faces a middle of the pack Houston team tonight. It could happen again.

Shaun Livingston ($4,000): News just broke that Stephen Curry is sitting out tonight, which vaults Livingston into must-play status. He wont pick up a bulk of the shots, but Livingston seeing starters minutes at this price is a steal.

Dark Horses:

Tony Parker ($4,100): Dallas is tough on point guards, but both Deron Williams and J.J. Barea are out tonight, which makes that stat obsolete. Parker could have a nice game here against the patchwork Dallas backcourt.

Rajon Rondo ($3,900): So…..let me get this straight….Rondo attacks the players who have been in Chicago the longest, the coach, the GM, and fabled son Dwyane Wade. What is his punishment? A 32 minute run against the Heat. That was his highest minute total since December 28th. If he plays near that minutes total again, he will be the best bargain of the night. He can still produce solid assist and rebound totals with a handful of points.

My pick: Livingston(PG), Rondo(G); Parker(PG), Livingston(UTIL)

DraftKings
Jan 27, 2017; Philadelphia, PA, USA; Houston Rockets guard James Harden (13) reacts to his three pointer in front of Philadelphia 76ers guard Nik Stauskas (11) during the third quarter at Wells Fargo Center. The Houston Rockets won123-118. Mandatory Credit: Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

Shooting Guards

Best Bets:

James Harden ($12,800): Harden nearly had his second 100 DraftKings points game of the season on Friday night, coming just 2.25 points short. His upside is even higher than Westbrook’s, and he has a superb matchup against the Pacers. There is no telling how high Harden’s total could get tonight, but 5x value looks likely, even at his price.

C.J. McCollum ($7,100): McCollum has a nice matchup here against a Portland team that is statistically the worst in the league defending shooting guards. That said, in three games, McCollum has come in a shade under 5x value at 33.5 DraftKings points per game. He does have the potential for a good game though.

Honorable Mention:

Dwyane Wade ($7,000): This whole Bulls debacle could destroy the team, or they could rally. Wade did not start on Friday, but he is back in the starting lineup tonight. He was on fire before the benching. Will he resume that role, or will he become a malcontent. We find out tonight!

Tyreke Evans ($5,400): Evans still isn’t playing a full load of minutes, but he has picked up 57.25 DraftKings points over the last two games while playing only 43 minutes. As long as he is producing like this, he is worth rolling out there.

Dark Horses:

Seth Curry ($5,200): Dallas is still roughed up at the point, so it’s likely that Curry will earn another start. Even with Wesley Matthews back, Curry should see enough run to hit 5x value. He may not get as many shots with Matthews around though.

Danny Green ($3,600): Norman Powell is definitely in play if DeMar DeRozan sits out again. His status likely wont be determined until right before tip off, so if you don’t have time to check, err on the side of caution. I kind of think DeRozan plays, which hurts the value of both. A healthy alternative is Green, who is coming of back to back 20+ DraftKings points games and playing against a beat up Dallas backcourt.

My pick: Harden(SG), Curry (UTIL); McCollum(SG), Curry(G)

DraftKings
Dec 14, 2016; San Antonio, TX, USA; San Antonio Spurs small forward Kawhi Leonard (2) waits on the sidelines to enter the game during the first half against the Boston Celtics at AT&T Center. Mandatory Credit: Soobum Im-USA TODAY Sports

Small Forwards

Best Bets:

Kevin Durant ($10,100): The Trailblazers are good against small forwards, but Durant isn’t your typical small forward. He has 151.75 DraftKings points against the Blazers in three games this year. That leaves him at 5x value on a light night. He could also see a huge boost with Curry out.

Kawhi Leonard ($8,700): Leonard has been below value on average in two games against Dallas, but he has been over 40 DraftKings points in every game since January 7th, reaching 5x value in all but one of those games. If you want to fade KD, Leonard is a solid plan B.

Honorable Mention:

Paul George ($7,900): George has been mostly inconsistent this year, but he has averaged 46.8 DraftKings points over the last three games. The Pacers are playing well right now, and George is at the heart of it. On paper, this is a good matchup for George.

Markieff Morris ($6,600): Morris has topped 30 DraftKings points in 11 of the last 12 games. He is putting up numbers with consistency now. You couldn’t trust Morris earlier in the year, but if you’ve rolled with him lately, he has likely helped you cash. He will likely do it again.

Dark Horses:

Robert Covington ($5,900): Covington only played 19 minutes in the first meeting with the Bulls, but the Bulls were also a fully functioning NBA team at that time. Now? Not so much. Covington may be able to capitalize on the fracture. Jimmy Butler was awful on Friday night. Is it a trend, or will he bounce back tonight? At any rate, Covington is a solid play.

C.J. Miles ($4,000): Miles is seeing a lot more minutes than Monta Ellis and playing a lot better basketball than Glenn Robinson III. That has led to more minutes and more scoring for Miles. He has averaged 22 DraftKings points per game over the last three games. That leaves him at 5x value.

My Pick: George(SF); Durant(SF);

DraftKings
Jan 22, 2017; Orlando, FL, USA; Golden State Warriors forward Kevin Durant (35) high fives forward Draymond Green (23) against the Orlando Magic during the second half at Amway Center. Golden State Warriors defeated the Orlando Magic 118-98. Mandatory Credit: Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

Power Forwards

Best Bets:

Draymond Green ($7,800): Everyone’s usage rate is going to go up with Curry out. Portland is already the worst team in the league against opposing power forwards. Green has put up 122.75 DraftKings points in three games against Portland so far this year. He will likely help the average tonight with Curry out.

LaMarcus Aldridge ($6,900): Aldridge has seen his numbers significantly increase with Pau Gasol  out. He has at least 5x value in five of the last six games, and has topped 6x value in three of those. Even in a tougher matchup against Dallas, I like Aldridge.

Honorable Mention:

Nerlens Noel ($6,300): Joel Embiid stayed back in Philly to rest, which means Noel gets another start. He put up 83.25 DraftKings points in two games that Embiid rested last week. Expect another huge game against Chicago at this price.

Ersan Ilyasova ($5,800): Ilyasova routinely hits 5x value with Embiid out. Now that Noel has played a larger role, it is actually down to 5x value from much higher. Ilyasova still has a nice matchup against the Bulls.

Dark Horses:

Dirk Nowitzki ($5,000): Nowitzki is well rested, and has topped 5x value in nine of the last ten games. The Spurs are tough up front, but Nowitzki’s price is so low, that it doesn’t take a lot to hit that 5x threshold.

Richaun Holmes ($4,000): Holmes has played his way into a larger role, putting up 44.75 DraftKings points over the last couple of games that Embiid has rested. The price is right, and he should see plenty of minutes against the Bulls tonight.

My pick: Ilyasova(PF), Holmes(F), Noel(C); Aldridge(PF), Noel(F)

DraftKings
Jan 16, 2017; Indianapolis, IN, USA; New Orleans Pelicans forward Anthony Davis (23) warms up prior to the game against the Indiana Pacers at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. Mandatory Credit: Trevor Ruszkowski-USA TODAY Sports

Center

Best Bets:

Anthony Davis ($10,000): Davis showed no ill effect of the quad injury on Friday, so he looks to be back to full strength. Still, he has not reached 5x value since January 14th, so there is risk involved. However, now that he only need 50 DraftKings points to make 5x value, it increases his chances of making it.

Myles Turner ($6,700): Turner has averaged 35.3 DraftKings points per game over his last three outings, which means he may finally be achieving some level of consistency. The Rockets aren’t overly strong at center, so this will play right into Turner’s strength.

Honorable Mention:

Mason Plumlee ($6,200): Plumlee has averaged 37.4 DraftKings points per game over the last give games. He is becoming a larger part of the Portland offense, posting four straight double-doubles. Golden State is fairly strong up front, but Plumlee has still managed to pick up 83.75 DraftKings points in three games against them.

Marcin Gortat ($5,800): Gortat can be a nice asset when used in the right situations, but he is not for use under all circumstances. The Pelicans are still a train wreck at center, so this is definitely a time to use the Polish Hammer.

David Lee ($5,700): Lee has been the biggest benefactor of Pau Gasol’s injury. Aldridge has spent more time at center with Lee manning the power forward position. Lee has topped 6x value in four of the five games with Gasol out. That seems a little ambitious against Dallas, but 5x value is well within reach.

Dark Horses:

Jonas Valanciunas ($5,600): His output has been far from consistent for most of the year, but Jonas has been over 5x value in seven of the last ten games. His rebounding ability keeps his output high enough to keep him from completely destroying your lineup.

Clint Capela ($4,800): Capela’s minutes aren’t back up to where they used to be, but he is still knocking out 5x value with regularity now. Indiana has not been very strong in the middle, so if Capela’s minutes continue to increase, he could go well over 5x value tonight.

My pick: N/A; Plumlee(C)
