Morocco made their first ever African Cup of Nations knockout round after beating the defending champions, Ivory Coast, in the last group stage match for both teams. They now face another formidable opponent as they take on Egypt in the quarterfinals.
Egypt, who won Group D, finished with seven points in group stage play. They defeated Uganda and Ghana while earning a point against Mali. Egypt look to continue their usual success at AFCON in Sunday’s match.
On the other hand, Morocco must focus on Sunday as they take on Egypt. It’s great to celebrate a historic feat. However, Morocco need to prepare for the future at this point in order to have a chance to make further history. Egypt are a perennial powerhouse in AFCON action and other international action as well.
