The Notre Dame Fighting Irish need to land these five recruits leading up to National Signing Day 2017
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish didn’t have nearly the success that they’d hoped for in the 2016 college football season. Brian Kelly’s job came into question as they failed to make a bowl game. Now facing an uncertain future, capping off a solid recruiting class is crucial for both the future of Kelly in South Bend and the future of this team. That’s what they’re facing leading up to National Signing Day 2017.
According to 24/7 Sports, the Fighting Irish sit just outside of the top 10 in regards to recruiting classes for 2017. However, they still have a few big names that could help get them into the top 10 before it all passes. That’s certainly what they’ll be looking to make happen, but they need to land their guys.
These are the five recruits that Notre Dame must have leading up to National Signing Day if they want to call their 2017 recruiting a success.

Chaz Ah You might be one of the most underrated safety prospects in the country, but he’s yet to decide where he’s going to play his college football. Most would agree that it will likely come down to the Washington Huskies or the BYU Cougars. Obviously neither of those two teams are Notre Dame. With both parties interested, though, the Irish could theoretically make a late push to try and get a steal.
Admittedly, Ah You’s inclusion among these must-have recruits for Notre Dame is simply based off of interest and the fact that recruits they have a real shot at landing leaning elsewhere. However, that doesn’t mean there’s a zero chance that Ah You could choose the Irish given a late push. We’ve seen stranger things before on the recruiting trail and Ah You is the type of talent you make those moves for if you’re Brian Kelly.
