Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz had some words to say about their trip to Miami before their playoff game against the Green Bay Packers.

On New Year’s Day, the Giants went into Washington and won a road game against the Redskins who needed that game to get into the playoffs. They decided to celebrate the next day by flying to Miami on their off day. This was six days before they had to go to Green Bay and face, at the time, the red hot Packers.

Well, January 8 came around and the Giants got man-handled by the Packers, 38-13. And 22 days later, Victor Cruz still isn’t over it.

“Looking back on it, it definitely wasn’t worth it” Cruz said on SNY’s “TimeOut with Taylor Rooks” podcast via NFL.com. “At the end of the day, you want to put your mind in a place where you want to succeed at whatever your next task is, especially in a football setting and a football atmosphere.”

These are interesting comments coming from a man who was quick to make it seem like no big deal at the time. Cruz said the day after the trip that they get photographed anywhere they go no matter where it is.

While it is unfair to blame one Miami trip for the Giants’ poor play in Green Bay, it didn’t seem like the smart move. The Giants failed to score 20 points in 10 out of 17 games this past season, including the postseason. For an offense that was supposed to have a lot of weapons, they under achieved.

With a defense like they have, maybe the offense will spend more time in the off season and next year worrying about football and less concerned with where they are going to go on off days.
