2. Belmont Park

Belmont Park is the most tempting of the in-state options for the Islanders. It would serve as a great place for a sports arena and they reportedly checked in with them as recently as last summer. This solves a lot of issues Barclays and the Isles had with each other. Assuming the arena is good, no more bad sight lines. More importantly, Elmont would provide a much more efficient parking situation and public transportation would be relatively easy. It also takes the team back to Nassau County, even if it is north Nassau.

Why it could work: With new ownership, the Isles need to make money fast. This could help them keep John Tavares, knowing they have a stable arena which should give them consistent money. Belmont is everything Barclays Center isn’t.

While the Islanders would have to negotiate with the New York Racing Authority, it wouldn’t be that big of a deal. As far as parking? Hey, if it can handle a Triple Crown race, NHL games shouldn’t be an issue.

Why it won’t work: It could take a while to build the arena. Also, Long Island didn’t work out so well for them last time. The trip could be a bit inconvenient for fans, which would obviously affect attendance.
