Arsenal face Watford at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday, Jan. 31. Here’s all the info you need to watch.
Arsenal are sitting in second place, a point above rivals Tottenham, after going unbeaten in their last five Premier League matches, winning four. When looking at this streak, however, only one win — West Brom — came against a team in the top half of the table. For Arsenal to make a run at Chelsea, or, at the very least, stay in the top four, they’ll need to get results against top-half teams in the second half of the season.
Gunners fans were surely encouraged by the play of Danny Welbeck in Arsenal’s 5-0 stomping of Southampton in their FA Cup matchup on Saturday. Welbeck, who is making a comeback from a knee injury, scored a brace within the first 22 minutes of the first half. Theo Walcott added a hat-trick.
Welbeck looks unlikely to receive a start on Tuesday, but may see some time as a sub. Mathieu Debuchy is available for selection, but Arsenal will be without the suspended Granit Xhaka and Mohamed Elneny, who is off representing Egypt in the Africa Cup of Nations.
Watford’s form is in stark contrast to Arsenal’s: the Hornets are winless in their last five league matches, sitting in 14th place on 24 points. That said, they’re within three points of 11th-place Southampton. Watford will be expecting a boost from new signing M’Baye Niang, who recently arrived from AC Milan on loan.
