College Basketball Power Rankings: Week 13

2. Kansas Jayhawks
A loss in Morgantown can be forgiven, as the undermanned Jayhawks erased an early deficit at Rupp Arena to take down Kentucky.
Kansas’ problems in Morgantown continued on Tuesday night, as West Virginia pulled away late for an 85-69 win that was much more competitive than the score would indicate. Despite losing forward Carlton Bragg to a suspension during the week, Kansas put together a terrific offensive performance to beat the Wildcats 79-73.
While the Jayhawks have a terrific overall resume at 19-2 and showed the upside of a title contender on Saturday, there is still room for improvement. Kansas allowed far too much dribble penetration against the Mountaineers, as West Virginia shot over 48 percent from the field.
Bill Self has shown a terrific ability to adjust to the lack of frontcourt depth, and will likely have Kansas playing better defense soon enough. The Jayhakws have plenty of offense, as Frank Mason and Josh Jackson are leading the nation’s No. 5 unit in adjusted efficiency.
Kansas will have a chance to earn a second consecutive top five win against Baylor on Wednesday before Iowa State comes to town over the weekend.
