Auburn has made it a priority to get more explosive on the outside and have better protection up front with its offensive line. Malzahn landed a good mix of players that can help right away but didn’t do a great job of getting defensive coordinator Kevin Steele a great incoming class of front-seven prospects. 2016 studs like defensive tackle Montravius Adams and defensive end Carl Lawson are now going to the NFL.
The Tigers did land the No. 1 junior college player in former Baylor Bears quarterback Jarrett Stidham. He was one of the seven early enrollees for the Auburn program. He’ll compete for the starting quarterback job right away.
Auburn’s one five-star commitment is offensive tackle Calvin Ashley from Washington, D.C. The Tigers are at their best when the have an absolute road grader on the offensive line. Look for Ashley to play right away in Auburn.

The other commit to keep an eye on for early playing time is four-star inside linebacker Tadarian Moultry from Birmingham. He is the No. 3 inside linebacker, the No. 4 player from Alabama, and the No. 103 player nationally. Moultry will flourish in Steele’s front-seven by the time he is a true junior in 2019. The more reps he gets in 2017, the better he will be as an upperclassman.
