Levi Jones made his decision on National Signing Day 2017 to play for USC, but not before trolling Florida and Florida State with his announcement
National Signing Day always offers a number of entertaining moments. We’ve seen players with Bulldogs (thanks, Isaiah Crowell), players mothers audibly express displeasure with decisions, and just about everything in between. However, it’s never dull watching young men make their college decisions and commitments with flair. Linebacker recruit Levi Jones had plenty of that with his decision on Wednesday.
Coming out of Westlake High School in Austin, TX, Jones’ recruitment essentially came down to three schools, all big-time programs. Jones had his pick between the Florida Gators, Florida State Seminoles and USC Trojans. Any of the trio could use the talents of the linebacker, but alas, he could only choose one.
No matter which school he chose, Jones would burn the other two to some degree. However, as the Westlake product made his announcement on National Signing Day 2017, Jones made sure to not leave the other two schools unscathed. So as he chose USC, he made sure there was both drama and a bit of trolling for the Gators and Seminoles as he pulled off a bit of trickery with his shirts:
Even the crowd in attendance at the announcement got fooled by Jones’ antics. Talk about a young man who knows how to build suspense—and twist the knife in the two teams that he didn’t sign with.

As for Jones as a player, he’s going to make an impact for the Trojans sooner rather than later. With great speed and recognition to go with his athleticism at linebacker, there’s a reason he’s a top-100 overall prospect in this class of recruits. And if his announcement is any indication, he’ll make his presence known with flair.
