The Miami Hurricanes 2017 football recruiting class on National Signing Day should have them moving up in the world under Mark Richt
Mark Richt’s arrival as the head coach of the Miami Hurricanes expectedly brought massive expectations. Given how inconsistent and underperforming the team had been in recent years, though, it was foolish to think just a new head coach would remedy it all. As Richt cements himself a The U, though, he’s now got to turn things around with his guys, like the stacked group he’s bringing in for their 2017 football recruiting class after National Signing Day.
Though they may not have any five-star recruits that are set to make waves for the Hurricanes, the talent is still 100 percent for real. That all starts for the Canes with their prize of this recruiting class, Miami-grown offensive tackle Navaughn Donaldson. The big fella measures in at a staggering 6-5.5, 335 pounds and has the strength and size to compete at an elite level right away. Though Brad Kaaya might be leaving, protection won’t be an issue for this team with Donaldson.
Donaldson is the key for the group, but there several other recruits who could be contributors right away. Players such as athlete/running back DeeJay Dallas, safety Amari Carter, or ever a strong quarterback like Cade Weldon could all potentially make their presences felt upon arrival in Richt’s program.
Including these players mentioned, let’s take a look at the full 2017 recruiting class for Miami football:
While their class was a top-20 ranked group according to the 247 Sports Composite Rankings, the Hurricanes entered National Signing Day needing some help. Coming into Wednesday, they were still heavily involved in the hunt for three more four-stars ranked in the top 150.

Regardless, you can look at this group of players set to come into Miami and already see Richt putting his thumbprint on the program. It won’t be long at all before The U is back among the ACC’s elite—and potentially among the elites of the entire country.
