Lee County (GA) DT Aubrey Solomon made his declaration to spend his college career at the University of Michigan.
One of the first commitments to Michigan came from a small school in Northern Virginia. Luiji Vilain, a defensive end out of Episcopal, made his declaration in June of last year. Though he chose Michigan, Vilain also had offers from Virginia Tech, Alabama and North Carolina, of whom lost the final bid. With the departure of Jabrill Peppers and a couple of others on defense, Michigan might have to rely on a few youngsters, like Solomon, to get things going early.
For Aubrey Solomon, the decision was narrowed down to Alabama and Michigan. Of course, there’s a promising future in the NFL if Solomon had picked Alabama, but hopes that’ll remain true after playing for Jim Harbaugh. There would also be some stiff competition on game day, since Alabama is a part of the toughest conference in college football. Then again, choosing Michigan gives Solomon a chance to be a part of a growing program in a growing conference.
Solomon hails from Lee County HS, a member of the 6A division, in Leesburg, GA. On Nov. 5, Solomon made his first official visit to Michigan. He then visited Tuscaloosa a few weeks later to check out Alabama’s campus. In both cases, Solomon met with head coaches from both programs, Nick Saban being the most recent. Other top contenders on Solomon’s list included Georgia and Southern Cal, of whose campus he strolled in mid-January.

Michigan is starting to become the epitome of football recruiting. That’s all in thanks to how Harbaugh has transformed the program. He helped land one of the top wide receivers in the nation in Donovan Peoples-Jones. Michigan will also see some football pedigree in recruit Dylan McCaffrey, who’s making a cross-country trip to Michigan from Colorado. With the addition of the No. 2 DT in the nation, Michigan continues to be a viable recruiting threat to Ohio State.
