Everyone’s favorite name in recruiting, Kobe Buffalomeat, committed to Illinois State during the 2017 National Signing Day.

National Signing Day is like a holiday in college football. It’s arguably the biggest day of the year as it shapes the future of several programs. The best high school and junior college players from around the nation will choose their future homes. It also is a day to give attention to some players with some unique names. Kobe Buffalomeat is one of those players.

The aptly named offensive lineman is built like a buffalo and has been a favorite in recruiting circles because of his name. Buffalomeat announced his decision to play with the Illinois State Redbirds of the FCS in college.

Scouts see Buffalomeat as someone with the potential to make the jump from the FCS to the next level when his college career is done. At 6-foot-7, he has massive size that can’t be taught and hes plenty of room to fill out once he starts adding weight in college.

The Redbirds have long been a power in the FCS and playoffs are a must every year for the team. Getting Buffalomeat will help solidify the offensive line and give them someone that can turn into a star and protect the quarterback.

It serves as a reminder that National Signing Day isn’t just about the big programs either. The small schools spend all year working toward this day and it’s always good to see them land a recruit like this one.
