With National Signing Day finally upon us, Nebraska football announced its 2017 recruiting class with potential surprises coming.
Nebraska has compiled an impressive 2017 recruiting class under Mike Riley. The third-year head coach looks to be piecing together his top cycle since taking over in Lincoln.
In fact, Riley’s first class back in 2015 was ranked 30th in the country, according to 247Sports. The 2016 group was listed as the No. 24 class by the same recruiting database. Moreover, this year’s is currently ranked No. 21 with some big names yet to be added.
Tyjon Lindsey is the cream of the crop in Nebraska’s 2017 class. The four-star wide receiver de-committed from Ohio State just a few weeks ago and gave his verbal pledge to the Cornhuskers shortly after. He’s an Army All-American and could be an instant contributor to the Nebraska offense. He’s listed as the No. 50 prospect in the country.
Jamire Calvin is listed as the only other four-star pledge not enrolled early. The 5-foot-10 receiver from Los Angeles plays the same type of style as Lindsey and the competition at receiver will be fierce.
Keep an eye on four-star cornerback Elijah Blades, the nation’s No. 48 recruit, who could pick the Cornhuskers on signing day. Joseph Lewis, Damion Daniels, Greg Johnson, Michael Onyemaobi, Isaiah Johnson and Deommodore Ledoir are also considering the Cornhuskers.

Nebraska also has a handful of early enrollees in its 2017 class. Four-star inside linebacker Avery Roberts leads the way along with four-star quarterback Tristan Gebbia and fellow four-star wide receiver Jaevon McQuitty. Keyshawn Johnson, a three-star wide out, and Broc Bando, a three-star offensive guard, also enrolled early.
Take a look at the current 2017 pledges which will be updated throughout National Signing Day as they are announced.
Nebraska had an opportunity to add some big stars on National Signing Day, but even while missing out on a couple of elite prospects, this class seems to be taking shape to be one of Mike Riley’s best. It’s currently ranked No. 21 in the country.
