The Oakland Raiders may be staying in Oakland longer than they expected, as their deal for their new stadium took a hit on Tuesday.
The Oakland Raiders were planning on heading to the desert, as they filed papers to relocate to Las Vegas. On Tuesday, those plans hit a snag, as Goldman Sachs pulled out of the deal that would finance them a new stadium. The investment bank withdrew its financial support for the stadium, which was apparently $650 million of the $1.9 billion dollar stadium deal. The owners will meet in March to vote on the apparent move, which appears looking like a dead deal at this point.
Staying in the AFC, former Buffalo Bills head coach Rex Ryan did not mix words when expressing his disappointment for being fired by the team during the season. Ryan said he was hurt by the decision made by management to let him go, and that he does not wish the team well. While he is still holding out for another head coaching job, Ryan’s likely next stop will be on TV, where he is expected to have plenty of offers to be an analyst.
The New England Patriots pulled the trigger on a huge trade during the 2016 NFL season, as they sent their star linebacker, Jamie Collins, to the Cleveland Browns. Collins has since signed a long-term deal with the Browns, but the trade is still on the mind of a current Patriots linebacker. Don’t’a Hightower recently stated that the trade “sucked,” and that Collins was his favorite player in the NFL. Apparently the trade did little to derail the Patriots, who will be playing for a Super Bowl title on Sunday.
The Patriots’ opponent on Sunday will be the Atlanta Falcons, who had a bit of a mishap on Tuesday. Offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan, who is coaching his last game with the organization, lost his playbook when he picked up the wrong bag. While the team made light of the situation, he is lucky the Patriots did not get their hands on it, as they have a history of bending the rules a bit for some competitive advantage.

Finally, from one Super Bowl quarterback to another, Seattle Seahawks Russell Wilson had some high praise for Matt Ryan on Tuesday. Wilson stated that he believed Ryan should be the league’s MVP, after Ryan put up incredible numbers this season for the Falcons. While both Ryan and fellow Super Bowl QB Tom Brady have both put up MVP numbers, Wilson feels that Ryan overcame a tough 2015 season, and has done enough to win his first MVP Award.
