The Oregon Ducks will be unveiling their first recruiting class under new head coach Willie Taggart on National Signing Day.
After a disappointing trend in recent seasons under Mark Helfrich, the Oregon Ducks have switched gears as a program. They went outside the program to hire a new head coach and decided on Willie Taggart to be the guy. Ever since Taggart took over the Ducks’ coaching spot he has gotten to work right away on recruiting.
He’s been working on flipping recruits to the program and starting off with a bang. On Wednesday, the Ducks will announce a strong class for Taggart during the 2017 National Signing Day. The Ducks’ were in position for multiple undecided recruits. Here’s a look at their class of commits.
The Ducks have four 4-star prospects on their list of commits and six overall in the top 350. Their highest recruit is cornerback Thomas Graham out of Rancho Cucamonga. He is the 82nd overall ranked prospect in the nation according to 24/7’s composite rankings.
Cornerback and getting athletes at the position has been a theme for Taggart with this class. They also have 4-star cornerback prospect Jaylon Redd from Rancho Cucamonga. He’s a bit shorter but he’s a gifted athlete with high potential for the Ducks.

Their other two 4-star recruits are very intriguing. Quarterback Braxton Burmeister is expected to be the next in a long line of dual-threat quarterbacks for the Ducks. Isaac Slade-Matautia is an outside linebacker that should excel under new defensive coordinator Jim Leavitt.
Overall, the Ducks have a nice first class under Taggart. Getting key recruits to round out the class should make them competitors in the Pac-12 North real soon. It will take a while for development but this class the opportunity to be a major foundation for them.
