Now that the world of Riverdale has been established and the main characters introduced, it is time to uncover some secrets in episode 2, “A Touch of Evil.”

As is the case with any good TV pilot, the first hour of Riverdale set up a lot of potential storylines and so many questions. Episode 2 on Thursday will start to answer questions and reveal some secrets.

In terms of Archie Andrews’ love life, things are only going to get more complicated. Now that Jason Blossom’s body has been found, Archie wants to come forward with what he heard on July 4th. But Miss Grundy doesn’t want to reveal their relationship. Luckily, Archie may have someone else to confide in as Jughead learns one of Archie’s secrets.

On the age appropriate front, Betty wants to get her friendship with Archie back on track. But she is not so quick to forgive Veronica for what happened after the dance.

Here is the synopsis for the episode, “A Touch of Evil,” from SpoilerTV.

"SECRETS UNRAVELED — As new details of Jason’s death begin to emerge, Archie (KJ Apa) pleads with Miss Grundy (guest star Sarah Habel) to come forward with what they heard at Sweetwater River. Betty (Lili Reinhart) makes an effort to mend her friendship with Archie but takes a different stance with Veronica (Camila Mendes), who is trying to make up for her actions. With rumors around her brother’s death running rampant, Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch) deals with the pressure in true Queen Bee fashion, while tensions boil over when Jughead (Cole Sprouse) stumbles upon a secret Archie was hoping to keep hidden. Finally, plans for the annual fall pep rally move forward with a performance by Josie (Ashleigh Murray) and the Pussycats and a special appearance by Mayor McCoy (guest star Robin Givens)."

Rather than sticking with Mayor Glibb from the Archie Comics, Riverdale is giving the Mayor a closer relationship to one of the main characters. Mayor McCoy is the mother of Josie. An intriguing angle from the pilot is figuring out what is going on with the characters’ parents as well. So making the Mayor related to one of the Riverdale High students should make the adults’ storylines more interesting.

And Riverdale would not be fulfilling its duties as a teen drama if there wasn’t some sort of pep rally.
