Coach Kevin Sumlin has loaded up the Texas A&M Aggies with some depth after the 2017 National Signing Day on Wednesday.
Life in the SEC isn’t easy with the amount of powerhouses in the conference. With the way the Alabama Crimson Tide have dominated college football under Nick Saban, it has made the life for many programs that much harder. The Texas A&M Aggies have been close under head coach Kevin Sumlin but they’re always chasing the talent that is going to put them over the top.
With their 2017 National Signing Day Class, Sumlin is hoping he can build the depth that is needed to compete with Alabama in the SEC West and get the Aggies over the hump 24/7’s composite rankings has Texas A&M with the 10th best class in the entire nation and fifth in the SEC overall.
It’s crazy to think that being 10th in the nation only gets you fifth in the conference but it speaks to the strength of the SEC. The good news for Sumlin and the Aggies is that nine of his commits have already enrolled with the school.
They have nine 4-star prospects in the class and that should help continue to stock their team with some serious talent. They have two prospects in the Top 100 and that should leave fans with plenty to be excited about.

Inside linebacker Anthony Hines and wide receiver Jhamon Ausbon both have serious potential to be stars right away. The Aggies really loaded up on depth at the inside linebacker position with this class and this could help down the line against the big running backs they face. Ausbon joins Christian Kirk and a plethora of talented skill position players.
Ultimately, Sumlin needs this class to exceed expectations and help contend in the future for a College Football Playoff spot. They were ranked last year at one point No. 4, but quickly fell out of their spot. If the Aggies have done one thing well, it’s produce superstar players.
