2017 National Signing Day has given the Texas Longhorns a look at their first class under new head coach Tom Herman.

The Texas Longhorns are giving the keys to Tom Herman to get the program turned around. After having major success with the Houston Cougars and turning them into a national power, Herman will have even more resources with the Longhorns. His first recruiting class will give him a chance to get off on the right foot with Texas.

2017 National Signing Day has brought plenty of reasons for the Longhorns to get excited about their class. Herman has been working hard to bring talent to the program since has taken over and he has put landed himself some really talented players.

They already have three players that have enrolled on their list of commits, including 24/7’s composite No. 1 kicker Josh Rowland. They also have the No. 4 DUAL quarterback enrolled with Sam Ehlinger as a commit. The quarterback is probably the most intriguing fit on the roster and is certainly one that will draw comparisons to the dual-threat quarterbacks that Herman has worked with in the past.

When it comes to their other commits that aren’t enrolled yet, there is one name that jumps out from the list and that’s Gary Johnson. The inside linebacker is the No. 1 composite inside linebacker from the junior college ranks and the fifth best overall.

4-star wide receiver Damion Miller in an exciting receiving threat that should soon be catching passes on the field. With a good young quarterback like Shane Buechele on the roster, Miller should be a great addition to the roster.

This class also features a couple of offensive lineman and some skill position players. With seven 4-star prospects, Herman has plenty to like about this class. The Longhorns are hoping this is just the beginning of great things for the program.
