Denver Broncos edge rusher DeMarcus Ware is open to playing for his former team, the Dallas Cowboys, next season.

DeMarcus Ware is open to playing with his former team, the Dallas Cowboys next season, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Ware is, of course, interested in returning to the Denver Broncos, but if they chose to part ways with him he would welcome a return to the only other team he’s known in his NFL career. Ware is due to be a free-agent at the age of 34, and the Cowboys need desperate pass-rush help, so this is a good fit, provided he’s healthy.

Ware has shown signs of decline, as he only collected four sacks in the nine games he played, which is the fewest he’s had in a season in his career. But Ware is still effective and can be a situational pass-rusher for anybody in the NFL at the right price. Ware would also like a chance to win another Super Bowl. Their title window is certainly open coming off a 13-3 season and with premiere offensive players like quarterback Dak Prescott and running back Ezekiel Elliott.

If the Cowboys have one major weakness it’s their pass-rush, and the remedy could be a look into their past. It’s unlikely Denver will want to cough major money for a 34-year old, when they have young pass-rushers on the rise, like former first round pick Shane Ray.

Ware may want to retire with the Cowboys anyway, so the stage is certainly set for a reunion between Ware and the team that drafted him in the first round out of Troy.
