New England Patriots running back James White scored the first TD for the team in Super Bowl 51, but Stephen Gostkowski would miss the extra point.
Not many things have gone right for the New England Patriots in Super Bowl 51. Receivers dropped passes, LeGarrette Blount had a huge fumble and Tom Brady threw a critical pick-six. One player that has had success against the Atlanta Falcons is running back James White.
In the third quarter, the Patriots found themselves down 28-3 and need something to get them going. As they drove down the field, White took a pass and managed to dive right into the end zone for the first touchdown of the day for New England.

While the Patriots finally got a little momentum by getting on the board, kicker Stephen Gostkowski would miss the extra point. For the great feeling of finally making it into the end zone, the missed extra point felt like a let down.
To make things worse, the Patriots would fail on the onside kick attempt and give it to Atlanta right in their territory. It’s been all about the Falcons on Sunday night, and even when the Patriots scored, things still managed to go their way.
White however was the one constant for New England. He managed to make big plays when he got the ball in space. Brady quickly zeroed in on him as the rest of his receivers began dropping passes during critical moments.
