The Super Bowl halftime show is sometimes bigger than the game itself, and that was the case this year with Lady Gaga stepping onto her biggest stage yet.

Ever year, the Super Bowl halftime show becomes a bigger and grander stage for entertainers. While the game is the highlight of the night, in recent years we’ve seen the halftime show become a very legitimate threat to taking over the attention of the evening.

We can probably thank Katy Perry and the Left Shark — and the boom of social media — for making the halftime show as big as it always should have been. But over the last decade there have been some iconic acts step onto the stage and present us with something different each time.

From Prince in Miami a decade ago to Beyonce last year, the halftime show is a stage bigger than anyone can actually fathom. It’s an afterthought to some that the halftime show is massive, because the stage is literally that grand.

This year Lady Gaga stepped onto the stage and brought with her the hype that the show deserves. All week long, as protests of Donald Trump and crimes against human civil rights waged in streets and airports,  many thought that Gaga would have something political to say.

Note: Video of her performance will go here. Be sure to check back.

Beyond anything political she has to say, the spectacle that she was going to bring to Houston was something everyone was looking forward to. Gaga has never been shy about being extravagant with her performances, and that’s what we expected to see on Sunday night.
