Will technology entice audiences to embrace another police drama? Here’s how you can watch the series premiere of APB live, on TV and online.

What if an app could help fight crime? That’s the premise of FOX’s new police drama APB, which stars Justin Kirk (Weeds) as a billionaire who pours his technological genius into a Chicago police district.

Season 1, Episode 1 is called “Hard Reset” and explores how Kirk’s Gideon Reeves decides to get into police work. But money can’t buy happiness – or people to take him seriously. Gideon has to win over the cops just like APB will have to win over the audience.

And how many people will be peeved at it for being the reason Lucifer isn’t on until May?

Here’s how FOX describes the series premiere:

"After tech billionaire Gideon Reeves witnesses his best friend’s murder, he takes charge of Chicago’s troubled 13th District and reboots it as a technically innovative police force, challenging the district to rethink everything about the way they fight crime.Gideon knows if he’s going to change anything, he’ll need help, which he finds from Detective Theresa Murphy an ambitious, street-smart cop who is willing to give Gideon’s technological ideas a chance. After Gideon launches the APB app, allowing citizens to immediately alert the police of a crime, downloads of the app spike, and Gideon realizes his work is just beginning."

The new series has received plenty of promotion from FOX, but APB enters into a crowded genre as it takes over for Lucifer, and will audiences hold a grudge about it bumping the Devil off the schedule for a few months? We’ll see.
