According to a report, LeBron James wants the Cleveland Cavaliers to go all in to get Carmelo Anthony, even if it means giving up Kevin Love.
With the NBA Trade Deadline just around the corner, the story of Carmelo Anthony and the New York Knicks won’t be put on the back burner until he’s moved or if he stays on the roster until then. Everyone knows that it’s time for a split between the two sides and it’s just a matter of which team is willing to make the move for him and if Anthony is willing to waive the no-trade clause. The rumored interest from the Cleveland Cavaliers is taking another interesting twist.
On Monday night, Frank Isola of The New York Daily News reported that LeBron James is pushing the Cavaliers to get his friend Anthony, even if it means giving up Kevin Love. While the Cavaliers being tied to Anthony is nothing new, the twist of James pushing the team to do it and being willing to give up Kevin Love is.
Giving up Love for Anthony doesn’t seem like the type of move that general manager David Griffin would make. If the Knicks are able to find another team that would be willing to make a run at their superstar, then they could perhaps leverage a bidding war. If James really is willing to see his front office deal Love, then perhaps he feels it could snap them out of the funk they’re in.

With the Golden State Warriors adding Kevin Durant in the offseason, it’s become clear that the Cavaliers need to step up and add to their arsenal if they want to repeat as champions. That might mean sacrificing in one area if they feel Anthony is the perfect fit for their system.
We saw Love and the importance he brings to the roster for the Cavaliers last season. If they could land Anthony without having to give up Love, then this is a completely different story. Right now, James apparently wants his friend in Cleveland at all costs.
