The Texas Rangers have been called in to find Tom Brady’s missing game-worn Super Bowl jersey.

To say things got crazy in last night’s New England Patriots come-from-behind Super Bowl victory would be putting it lightly. While Tom Brady was able to snatch his fifth ring, he lost something in the process: his jersey.

However, it seems that the state of Texas is willing to exhaust all resources in finding it. According to a Statesman article, the Texas Rangers (no, not the baseball team) are being asked to investigate the theft of Brady’s jersey:

Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick’s office released a statement on Monday saying the following:

"“In Texas we place a very high value on hospitality and football. Tom Brady’s jersey has great historical value and is already being called the most valuable NFL collectable ever. It will likely go into the Hall of Fame one day. It is more important that history does not record that it was stolen in Texas. I’ve called Colonel Steve McCraw to ask that the Texas Rangers work with the Houston Police Department on this case.”"

The magnitude of last night’s game can’t be understated as Brady led his team to victory after being down 28-3. Brady set multiple Super Bowl records in the process, including pass attempts (62), completions (43) and passing yards (466).

Here’s the video of Brady and others searching once they realized the jersey was missing:

The first place the Texas Rangers might want to look is a man who posted a picture with a Brady jersey last night. It almost seems like too bonehead of a move to steal a piece of history then brag on social media, but who knows.

Last night’s game created plenty of debates: is Tom Brady the G.O.A.T.? Could Bill Belichick be the greatest coach ever, not just in NFL history, but in sports?

Now it seems “jersey-gate” has left us with one more debate: Which was the bigger theft? The New England Patriots stealing the game from the Atlanta Falcons? Or, somebody stealing Tom Brady’s game-worn jersey?
