The 2017 offseason will feature some strong quarterback options. Here are the best signal callers available in NFL free agency.
It’s hard, if not impossible, to win in the NFL without a strong quarterback. Heck, most teams have at least two viable signal callers. Those who don’t are playing with fire. Naturally, upgrading behind the center is a very quick way to improve. Teams looking for an upgrade at quarterback will find some intriguing options in NFL free agency.
There are mostly backup options, but having a strong backup is very important. Just ask the 2015 Denver Broncos or the 2001 New England Patriots. However, there are two starting options who could be viable in 2017. There’s also a very intriguing name who could be one but hasn’t been given much of an opportunity to prove it.
Quarterbacks get paid a lot of money and each of these five quarterbacks could be getting a huge paycheck. Whether it’s deserved or not is another story. Here are the top five quarterbacks in the 2017 NFL free agency class.
5. Case Keenum
Case Keenum is coming off a rough season for the Los Angeles Rams. He entered the season as the starter and eventually lost his job to Jared Goff. Keenum has likely lost his chance to be a starter in the NFL, but with a lack of quality options, Keenum is one of the better backup options available.
In nine starts, he threw nine touchdowns and 11 interceptions. However, it is worth keeping in mind the Rams didn’t surround him with skilled players. With a better team around him, Keenum could be a decent backup option.
Best fits: Basically any rebuilding team could use him. He’s a veteran backup option. Depending on how Teddy Bridgewater’s outlook for 2017 is, the Minnesota Vikings could use him as a backup to Sam Bradford.
