Giannis threw one off the backboard to himself because of course he did

Giannis Antetokounmpo continues to amaze us on a nightly basis with what he’s able to do on a basketball court. Whether it’s reaching the rim from the 3-point arc in the span of three steps, or throwing down yet another monster dunk, he’s always a highlight waiting to happen at any moment. Tonight he proved once again just how much of a highlight machine he can be with this incredible off the backboard dunk.

Was it a travel? Yeah probably. Does it matter cause they didn’t call it? Nope! Antetokounmpo still shows off his insane mix of athleticism and length by throwing this one off the backboard and reaching it before any Miami Heat player can get to it first. Once he beats them to the ball it’s as simple as throwing down an easy dunk.

Well, easy for him, probably a lot harder for literally any other player in the NBA.

As far as off-the-backboard highlights go this one is pretty tame. The dunk itself was nice, but all plays involving the backboard are on a scale of Tracy McGrady’s famous off-the-backboard throwdown. What Antetokounmpo did was awesome, but the dunk itself lacks the ferocity and finesse that McGrady’s dunk came with all those years ago.

Still it’s a pretty incredible highlight that should receive plenty of praise. Unfortunately the travel truthers will be out in force on this one, but just ignore them and appreciate a young star giving us more to enjoy so early in his career.
