NBA Fanduel Top 5 Plays of The Day For February 8th

Well here we are again for the 2nd time this week with our NBA FanDuel picks.  The NBA has gone from 3 games to 11, then back to 3 and now we have 12 today!  This hasn’t been the easiest week to play that’s for sure. Last night turned out ok as I was able to make the cash line in the tournament I played.  Kemba Walker was a big disappointment scoring just 27.1 FDP’s.  Other than him, the rest worked out pretty well.  Fading McCollum worked if you paired James Harden and Nicolas Batum.  McCollum scored 38.9 FDP’s to Batum’s 42.6 and Harden’s 53.7.  The duo of Harden and Batum seemed to be on most winning lineups.  Clint Capela scored 31.8 FDP’s, which was a nice return on his price and didn’t kill your lineups.  Overall it was an OK DFS night for a 3 game slate.

Tonight we have 8 games with a total above 210 thus far, a couple of games not listed yet could easily open up over that total.  The 3 games that are most attractive to me are the Cavs visiting the Pacers as a 2.5 point road favorite with a total of 215.5.  The next game I have my eye on is Denver at Atlanta, who is a 4 point favorite with a total of 220.  I also like the Clippers as a small 2 point favorite over the Knicks at Madison Square Garden with the total in that one at 219.  Being such a big slate I’m going back to playing 80% of my bankroll on cash games and just 20% on GPP’s.  Let’s get to it and take a look at who I’m spending up for and who I’m fading tonight in GPP’s.

NBA Fanduel – Top Player To Spend and Fade In GPP’s

Paul George $8,600

Ok I know this isn’t the most expensive guy out there but for his price I really like George tonight.  I am making him someone I target in GPP’s because I think some will be scared off of him in this spot because of the defense of LeBron James, but the Cavs are actually ranked 29th in the NBA vs Small Forwards this season.  The last time these two faced each other George had a line of 21 pts 11 rebounds 5 assists 2 steals and 1 block.  He has been playing pretty well lately and with some of his teammates a little banged up I think George carries the load tonight.  With James, Durant, Anthony, Wiggins, Hayward, available in a loaded SF position, George will likely be very low owned and has the potential to have an upside game.  He also helps you get one or two higher priced players in your lineup.

Anthony Davis $11,100

I know that seems like the obvious choice because of the match-up against Utah but that isn’t the entire reason I’m fading him tonight.  He has scored over 50 FDP’s in 4 of his last 5 games with one of those a 64.9 point effort against the Wizards.  So he is basically hanging out in the 50 point range and for the most part.  Tonight I think there are plenty of guys that can reach that 50 point mark at a considerable discount to Davis which is why I am fading him tonight.  He is more than capable of putting up over 70 FDP’s on any given night no matter his opponent, but I’m willing to take a chance that he doesn’t do that tonight, and if he does I think I can at least have a guy under 10K on my roster that will get 50. Now let’s move on to my Cash Game Lock and GPP Flier.

NBA Fanduel – Cash Game Lock and GPP Flier

Matt Barnes $5,200

Barnes could very well be the highest owned player on the slate tonight.  Boogie Cousins will be serving a 1 game suspension for picking up his 16th technical foul at the end of his last game against Chicago, and the Kings really don’t have many other options on offense to help score.  He has played 30 minutes or more in his last 4 games and if he gets that tonight he should easily pay off his relatively cheap price.  I do believe his ownership could be high but I’m not worried about that in cash games.  Barnes is also a nice piece that helps other higher priced guys fit.

Dewayne Dedmon $3,800

Rostering any Spur without knowledge of the starting lineup is a risky proposition.  With these guys you just don’t know who is going to get minutes on a night to night basis.  If Dedmon happens to get some run in the game tonight he has a fantastic match-up to take advantage of. The 76ers are the worst team against opposing centers this season and the last time these two teams faced each other Dedmon went for 30.5 FDP’s.  You can’t expect that tonight but I do think he is worth a flier in a lineup or two.  If there is confirmation he is going to start and play his share of minutes then I would up my exposure to him.  Now let’s move on to tonight’s PayMaker.

NBA Fanduel – Top PayMaker

Blake Griffin $9,400

It sure didn’t take long for Griffin to get back into the swing of things.  He has gone for 48.6 FDP’s or more in 3 of his last 4 games and gets a supreme match-up tonight at Madison Square Garden against the Knicks.  Speaking of the Knicks, they are ranked 28th against the PF position on the season and have no one that will be able to guard Griffin.

More from FanSided

With Chris Paul out, Griffin is being relied on to carry more of the load for this team.  In a game with a 219 total that is expected to be close, Griffin has a lot of upside tonight.  I look for him to anchor my lineups in both cash and GPP’s tonight and will not think twice about it.  The Garden seems to bring the best out of the visiting team’s star player, tonight that is Blake Griffin.

I really like staying below that 10K range and have built some really solid lineups with that approach for tonight.  Cash games are my contests of choice tonight due to the amount of games on the slate and I like I said earlier that will be where I will be playing most of my bankroll tonight. I am expecting some big scorers tonight and I think most of them will come from the players in the $7K – $10K price range.  As always keep an eye on the value that pops up during the day and do your best to avoid any late scratches before lock.  @fantasycpr and myself, @Bruce_Lamb will do our best to try to keep you up to speed on any breaking news.  Good Luck!
