Devin Booker and Troy Daniels got into it during a heated game between the Memphis Grizzlies and Phoenix Suns on Wednesday night. With tensions high, things reached a boiling point when the two teams got into a fight at midcourt in the final minutes of the fourth quarter. In the middle of the scuffle were Daniels and Booker exchanging words.
Once the two were removed, the game continued as normal with Memphis soundly defeating Phoenix by 19 points.
While the fight was definitely noticeable, there was nothing else about this game that stood out. A playoff team beat a really bad team, which is business as usual in the NBA. However, it was Booker’s comments afterwards that had everyone talking.

Ouch. “He been on five teams in three years…he has the nerves to talk trash to me” is a pretty harsh statement about a guy that’s worked their tail off to get into the league. It’s especially strange to see coming from someone on a losing team who can’t even legally buy a beer. Booker is young, but what he said here is petty. Daniels is a veteran on a playoff team that not only has experienced being on a winning team, but has played in an actual playoff game.

Since Booker seems to be so familiar with Daniels’ history of teams then he should also be aware of the game-winner he hit…in a playoff game.
Booker hasn’t even sniffed the playoffs, let alone played in them. The Suns second year guard has all the talent in the world, but his current record as a pro is so far below .500 that they need to send a diving crew to go find it. It’s fine if he wants to talk trash, but don’t get mad when a veteran with more experience and more wins starts talking back.
