FanDuel NHL: February 10 is a daily fantasy sports column focusing on the best FanDuel NHL player and value options for your daily lineups.  The salary options are based on the daily salaries set by FanDuel.  We’ll review the best options at each position, and help you afford an ideal lineup for your big FanDuel NHL paydays.

With the NHL only scheduling two games tonight, we have very limited lineup options.  So the goal of this lineup is to pick some big plays, while also identifying value options which may be low-owned, and present a competitive advantage against other FanDuel NHL players.  Here’s a look at the schedule for tonight, each game starting at 8pm ET:

Blackhawks at Jets

Lightening at Wild

Before we review the top options for each FanDuel NHL lineup position, let’s review the FanDuel NHL scoring rules:

Forwards/Defense

  • Goals = 12pts
  • Assists = 8pts
  • Shots on Goal = 1.6pts
  • Short Handed points = 2pts
  • Power Play Points = 0.5pts
  • Blocked Shots = 1.6pts

Goalies

  • Win = 12pts
  • Goals Against = -4pts
  • Saves = 0.8pts
  • Shutouts = 8pts

Top Centers

Because of his consistency, each time the Winnipeg Jets are on the NHL schedule, I take a look at Mark Scheifele ($7,800).  Mark has been very cool lately, only totaling 1.6 FanDuel NHL points over the last two games, very uncharacteristic of Scheifele.  So there’s risk playing Mark in your lineups tonight.

However, Scheifele is due to bounce-back, and had 28 to 34 FanDuel NHL points in the three games earlier.  The last time the Jets playing the Blackhawks, in Chicago on January 26th, Mark had a goal, assist, five shots on goal, and totaled 28 points.  This is a great opportunity to catch Scheifele on his bounce-back.

Marcus Kruger ($3,400) is our value pick at center.  Kruger isn’t consistently delivering double-digit FanDuel NHL point results.  However, Marcus typically spends about 15 minutes on the ice each game and consistently gets 5-10 points.

Also, the Blackhawks offense has heated up lately, including an assist for Kruger last Saturday.  And I like the Hawks match up against Hellebuyck and the Jets tonight.

Next: Top Wings

Top Wings

With 53 points (17 goals & 36 assists) in 55 games, Chicago Blackhawks star Patrick Kane ($8,400) is 7th in the NHL for total points and easily the most attractive option at wing tonight.  Patrick also has four double-digit FanDuel NHL point games in the Hawks last five games. So, with Chicago’s offense finally heating up, this seems like the right time to pay up for Kaner.

To afford Kane, we’ll scan for a value option and may have quickly found one in 20-year-old Nick Schmaltz ($3,200).  Playing on the Blackhawks 1st regular line again tonight, Schmaltzy has two double-digit FanDuel point results in Chicago’s last five games.  Also, Nick is consistently getting shots on goal making him a bargain at this salary tonight.

Rounding out our four wings, we’re going to grab two hot Minnesota Wild wingers, Jason Pominville ($5,300) and Nino Niederreiter ($5,400).  Pominville, the veteran of the two, is playing on the Wild’s 3rd line but is consistently getting 15 minutes of ice time each game and has two goals and fives assists in the Wild’s last five games.  That includes a 44.8 FanDuel NHL point game against the Jets three days ago.

The 24-year-old Niederreiter is coming into tonight’s juicy match up scolding hot.  Nino has two goals and two assists in the Wild’s last two games, and is averaging over 25 FanDuel NHL points over the last two games as well.  Niederreiter is on the Wild’s 1st line tonight and is facing a struggling Tampa Bay Lightening team.  The Lightening’s goal tonight, Bishop, is having difficulty getting into a groove again after missing extended time due to injury earlier in the season.

Next: Top Defense

Top Defense

Duncan Keith ($6,400) is the best option at defense tonight, and is worth the salary.  Keith is usually on the ice more than any other Blackhawk, around 25 minutes.  In that time, Duncan has one or more blocked shots and gets about two to three shots off per game.  In Chicago’s last give games, Keith has five assists and one goal, all leading to a roughly 15 FanDuel NHL point-per-game average.  Keith has a decent match up tonight in Winnipeg and the Hawks offense has been hot lately.  This should be a good double-digit FanDuel NHL point play.

Like Keith, the 22-year-old Jacob Trouba ($5,000) is on the ice around 25 minutes per game. Trouba is another consistent FanDuel NHL point source, and is frankly a bargain at $5,000.  Since the start of the new year, Jacob has exceeded 20 FanDuel NHL points in six games, over 30 points once, and is often a double-digit point source.  We should hear Keith and Trouba’s names called often during tonight’s Hawks/Jets match up.

Next: Top Goalie

Top Goalie

I don’t love any of the four options at goalie tonight.  While Crawford has won three-straight, he’s also let three goals-per-game, slip past the red line with the Chicago Blackhawks playing terrible defense lately.  Their scoring has saved them.

Bishop had a great game at home against the Kings on Tuesday, but until them he hasn’t looked sharp, and has a rough match up against a good Wild team in Minnesota.

Hellebuyck has a shot against the Blackhawks tonight at home, and beat Chicago back on January 26th.  However, minus the win against the hawks, Connor has a total of -9.8 FanDuel NHL points in the other three, of the Jets last four, games.

So with those three goalies ruled out, I have to go with Devan Dubnyk ($9,600).  Dubnyk has a good match up at home tonight, and has around 20+ points in four of his last five wild starts.  The only reason I hesitated to pick Devan is the massive salary.  Dubnyk’s price limits other lineup options.  But, he’s a high probability 12 FanDuel NHL win points, plus save point options.  This should be a 20-30 point play.  And with our value picks across the rest of our lineup, we can be more confident with this choice.

Always check NHL lineups throughout the day when playing FanDuel NHL.  As a fan, you likely know the league isn’t overly forthcoming with injury news, and players are often scratched at the last-minute with little information.  Also, goaltenders are never a sure-thing.  Good Luck today FanDuelers!
