New York Knicks fans let their thoughts on Charles Oakley be heard
The New York Knicks are, unsurprisingly, the laughingstock of the NBA yet again. After having former Knicks player Charles Oakley arrested, for nothing more than buying a ticket, the fans are beginning to let their frustrations be heard.
Last night, at a New York Rangers game, fans chanted “Charles Oakley” to let team owner James Dolan know of their disapproval. Today, Dolan tripled down on his statements about Oakley. He continues to claim Oakley acted in a belligerent manner, basically called him an alcoholic, and has banned him from MSG for potentially the rest of his life.
Knicks fans aren’t buying it. They are on Oakley’s side in this feud and demand that Dolan act responsibly. Of course, Dolan refuses to do so which means the fans will react in the only way they know how: chanting Oakley’s name as loud as they can until Dolan relents.

You can hear MSG’s organ player trying to drown out the protests, but he’s not successful at all. The chanting for Oakley is loud and clear, and until Dolan stops his petty feud with him he is going to hear about it for the rest of the season. The war of fans hearts is over. Oakley has won, and Dolan has no chance at turning it around in his favor. Every statement he has said about Oakley could be true, and fans would still be on his side. They’re furious with how Dolan has conducted himself, and they aren’t going to just quietly sit by as he tries to stomp out a beloved former player.
Free Charles Oakley, because all he wants is a relationship with the franchise that gave him love. Dolan doesn’t deserve this franchise or these fans. The NBA would be better without him.
