SM Huddle Hat Trick: Super Bowl Commercials, Guests Steve Corsaro & Ashley DeWalt
By Fansided
In this Sports Marketing Huddle hat trick, Brian Cristiano and Rob Cressy break down the Super Bowl commercial winners & losers, they talk Steve Corsaro, VP of Biz Dev for the National Sports Forum, about their upcoming event, as well as Ashley DeWalt, CEO of Leverage Sports, about the role content plays in recruiting college athletes.
EP-147 Super Bowl Commercial Winners & Losers
Super Bowl 51 delivered on expectations, but unfortunately the commercials couldn’t say the same. There were certainly some that stood above the rest like champions, and others that were atrocious.
Brian Cristiano and Rob Cressy dish about the Super Bowl commercial winners and losers. What was it about the good commercials that made us like them? What were some of the losers thinking with their non-relevant and attention lacking spots? What in the world happened to Snickers and their disaster of a live commercial?
The winners list included: Tide, Squarespace, Bai, Audi, Honda, and Mr. Clean. The losers list included: Buick, Busch beer, Snickers, Turbo Tax, and Persil.
Also discussed on the show are: T-Mobile (who was active and edgy with Bieber, Gronk, Snoop, and Martha Stewart), Yellow Tail (who didn’t have a national spot), Fast & the Furious 8, Stranger Things 2, Pistachio’s (with their elephants running on the treadmill.)
At the end Brian and Rob give actionable advice on what you can implement into your business from this year’s Super Bowl commercials.
EP-148 Steve Corsaro, VP of Biz Dev, National Sports Forum
Steve Corsaro, VP of Biz Dev for the National Sports Forum, joins Brian Cristiano and Rob Cressy to talk about keys to putting on an incredible event, how to keep people coming, challenges to overcome, plus sports marketing topics to look out for at the 2017 National Sports Forum (Feb 12).
In each episode of The Sports Marketing Huddle, CEO of BOLD Worldwide Brian Cristiano, and Founder of Cress Media & Bacon Sports Rob Cressy give a forward-thinking perspective about some of the hottest topics in the world of sports marketing and then give you actionable advice on how you can implement it into your business.
EP – 149 Ashley DeWalt, CEO of Leverage Sports – The Role of Content in College Athletics Recruiting
Ashley DeWalt, CEO of Leverage Sports, joins Brian Cristiano and Rob Cressy to talk about key takeaways from the Summit on Sports Media that he produced in Houston last week. Ashley is also a professor at the University of Houston and dishes about the experience for his students, the questions they asked, and the applicable lessons they took away. We also talk about the role content plays in helping college athletic programs recruit players (like Texas A&M’s Myles Garrett), where AR and VR fit in, plus where he sees the industry heading in 2017.
