Kevin Love will be getting a second opinion on his knee. Is it time to worry about the Cleveland Cavaliers power forward?

Kevin Love has been having one of the best seasons of his career and easily his best on the Cleveland Cavaliers.

After spending his first two years struggling to find a role that suits him, the Cavs have finally figured out how to use Love’s impressive skill set. He’s back to throwing full-court outlet passes, scoring down low and is shooting a career-high 38 percent from 3-point range. It’s clear how invaluable Love is to Cleveland being able to repeat.

Love has played so well that he was named as a reserve to this year’s All-Star Game. Despite Cleveland’s struggles to play consistent basketball since Christmas, Love has once again proven to be one of the NBA’s top bigs.

Unfortunately, Love will likely not play in this year’s All-Star Game due to a reported knee injury of some kind — An injury that he will now be getting a second opinion on, according to a report from the AP.

This is not great news for Cleveland. Having Love miss any time at all is a problem for a team with so many vets. Young players like Love, in their prime, can help carry the Cavs through the rough patches of the long NBA season. On top of this, Cleveland’s frontcourt depth gets very scary quickly without Love.

They just signed Derrick Williams to a 10-day contract, and without Love, will need to put a lot of of weight onto the shoulders of Channing Frye. This is a good enough team to survive without Love for a short period of time, but if this injury becomes serious then Cleveland’s chances at repeating for a title take a huge hit.

Hopefully Love’s injury, whatever it is, will not be a problem for him long term. He was having an incredible season and having it cut short would be extremely disappointing.
