You’ve had your fun as a tech magnate Peter Parker, now it’s back to bad luck for you.

One of the hallmarks of classic Spider-Man is that other than the scaling walls and proportional spider-strength, he was relatable. Yes, Peter Parker was smart enough to invent his own web fluid but he still had to worry about his next paycheck, his star-crossed love life and the health of his dear Aunt May.

In recent times? Not so much. Marvel has done some fun stuff with Spider-Man featuring Parker as the head of the sprawling Parker Industries, and he’s been like a super-powered James Bond as his adventures took him around the world. Yet that won’t be the case in the new Peter Parker: The Spectacular Spider-Man series that Marvel announced will kick off in June.

As series writer Chip Zdarsky explained while breaking the news to Entertainment Weekly, the book will respect what’s been going on but restore the character to a status quo and locale that longtime fans will find comforting.

“With [Peter Parker: The Spectacular Spider-Man] we’re using the same Spider-Man continuity, but shifting the spotlight back to his NYC environment and supporting cast,” Zdarsky said. “But even though we’re pushing to make it a more personal book, we’re still going to have big adventures with ramifications that’ll be felt in other books. If I had a true mission statement for the book it would be: ‘Have fun, have heart, have stakes.’”

Helping Zdarsky set the tone, at least at the beginning, will be superstar artist Adam Kubert. Though he’s tackled the wall-crawler in various Marvel projects in the past, this will be Kubert’s first time front and center for a Spider-Man ongoing.

The Spectacular Spider-Man name also has a rich legacy at Marvel, with the full title of the series a callback to the first volume of Spidey’s second monthly series when it debuted back in 1976. Still, with this creative team attached and a fan-friendly hook, there shouldn’t be anything secondary about this new book.
