The Tennessee Titans are hoping to build off their winning season of 2016, and getting quarterback Marcus Mariota back at peak strength is essential.

After breaking his leg in Week 16 of the regular season, Marcus Mariota was placed on injured reserve with the expectation that he would be ready for training camp. That timetable seems secure, with head coach Mike Mularkey recently telling The Midday 180 in Nashville that Mariota is on schedule.

Tennessee shocked many last year, getting to a 9-7 record and a tie for first place in the AFC South. With a pair of first-round picks in the NFL Draft and more than $60 million in cap space, the Titans could make some serious waves in the AFC this upcoming season.

If Mariota can come back without any ill effects, look for Tennessee to challenge the Houston Texans, who have won the division each of the past two years. The offense should be getting upgraded over the coming months, specifically at the wide receiver position. The Titans had a power running game and top-notch offensive line, but failed to display an 1,000-yard receiver on the outside.

Mariota was much-improved in his second season, throwing for 26 touchdowns against nine interceptions, after tossing 19 touchdowns and 10 picks as a rookie.
