Late in the fourth quarter Thursday night, John Wall chased down Rodney Stuckey and blocked his shot to seal the win for the Washington Wizards.
John Wall and the Washington Wizards have been on a roll. The Wizards have now won four games in a row and 11 of their last 12 games. After getting off to an awful start to the season, the Wizards will enter the All-Star break in third place in the Eastern Conference standings.
Late in the fourth quarter, Markieff Morris received a pass in the corner behind the three-point line. Paul George switched onto Morris on defense. The Kansas product dribbled towards the middle of the floor, but George reached in with his left hand, cutting off Morris’ dribble.
Morris switched the ball from his left hand to his right, but George swiped with his right hand. He didn’t get the ball, but he forced Morris to make a bad pass right into Pacers guard Rodney Stuckey’s hands.
Stuckey took off toward the Wizards basket. By the time he reached the three-point line, he must have thought he had an easy two points. But Wall had other ideas, taking off as soon as Stuckey stole the pass.
As Wall reached the free throw line, he slowed down, timing his steps before taking off and blocking Stuckey’s layup attempt. The ball went right off the backboard to a waiting Morris. Morris immediately gave the ball back to Wall, who carried it up the court.
The Wizards beat the Pacers 111-98. Wall finished with 20 points and 12 assists. Morris scored 21 points and Porter added 25. Myles Turner and George scored 17 in the loss. Despite the blocked shot, Stuckey finished with 12 points.
