Mike Conley Jr. added to his stat stacked season, knocking down the most three-pointers in Grizzlies history Wednesday night

Despite the Memphis Grizzlies falling to the New Orleans Pelicans at the FedEx Forum Wednesday night, there was one milestone to reflect upon. Guard Mike Conley Jr. became the Grizzlies all-time leader in three-pointers made (845), according to the Memphis Grizzlies Twitter account. Conley Jr. passed Mike Miller with 1:50 remaining in the fourth quarter.

Conley Jr. has spent his entire 10-year career with the Grizzlies. Arguably the biggest bright spot is his 41 percent from beyond the arc, a five-point increase from last year. Conley Jr. is also averaging a career-high 2.4 three-point attempts per game and 19.3 points per game (career high). Vince Carter surpassed Allen Iverson for 23rd on the all-time NBA scoring list.

Furthermore, Conley Jr. bounced back from 2015-16 after he appeared in only 56 games. He is on pace to near the 165 three-point field goals made mark.

Most notably, Conley Jr. has not played in an NBA All-Star Game to date. He was named to the NBA All-Defensive Second Team in 2013. Conley Jr. is a two-time winner of the NBA Sportsmanship Award (2014 and 2016).

As a result, Conley Jr. signed the greatest total contract in NBA history ($153 million). Conley Jr.’s $26.5 million salary is the largest on the Grizzlies’ roster this season.

Memphis searches for a seventh-straight trip to the Western Conference playoffs, led by Conley Jr. and lone All-Star selection Marc Gasol. Currently, the Grizzlies are the sixth seed, sitting 1.5 games back of the Utah Jazz with the season well past the halfway mark.

The Spurs swept Memphis in the 2013 Western Conference Finals. In conclusion, Conley Jr.’s success is a significant factor in the direction the franchise will go over the next four years. Provided he’s healthy, that elusive All-Star Game appearance may be coming in the near future, despite a loaded Western Conference at the guard spots.
