An incident involving New York Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis now could lead to discipline on the NFL star.

It’s been a busy Thursday evening, at least where news of New York Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis is concerned. An earlier report confirmed he was attacked in Pittsburgh over the weekend.

Now WTAE in Pittsburgh is reporting that an online docket states he has been charged with aggravated assault, robbery, terroristic threats and conspiracy. After further reviewing the situation, Pittsburgh police officers have determined that Revis was responsible for injuries to two individuals during an altercation.

The police statement said two men recognized Revis and one took video on a cellphone of their meeting. Revis took the phone and threw it into the street. It caused an argument that police are now saying ended with the two men being left unconscious for nearly 10 minutes before help arrived.

Simply because of Revis’ inovlvement, the question then would turn to NFL discipline. They have a strict policy against off-field incidents like this, and regardless of the outcome, he could still serve a possible suspension.

He would be in violation of the league’s personal conduct policy, and would be facing a suspension of up to four games. Furthermore, it may just push the Jets closer to releasing the 10-year veteran. It would save the team north of $9 million against the salary cap, and would save them the trouble of what could be a long offseason of news surrounding this situation.

A suspension would likely be the most realistic outcome, depending on how the charges play out. Blaine Jones, an attorney, told WTAE in the earlier report that he would contact police to arrange for Revis to turn himself in. In regards to Revis, Jones said, “He’s not going to run from a warrant.”
