Bayern Munich sit atop the Bundesliga table entering matchday 21. Carlo Ancelotti’s squad is coming off of a 5-1 Champions League victory against Arsenal on Wednesday. On Saturday, Bayern will look to extend their lead in the table over second-place RB Leipzig.
Bayern played Arsenal level in the first 45 minutes. But the club exploded in the second half. Within a 10 minute span early in the second half Robert Lewandowski scored and set up the first of two Thiago Alcantara goals. But maybe the most important goal was scored in 88th minute by Thomas Muller. Muller has struggled to find the back of the net under Ancelotti. If Muller gets going offensively, Bayern will be very difficult to stop in Germany and Europe.
Hertha Berlin enter the game in sixth place in the Bundesliga. Hertha hold a one-point lead for the last spot in Europe next season. Last season, Hertha found themselves in a similar situation. But a collapse following the winter break saw them fall out of a Champions League spot and finish seventh in the Bundesliga. Manager Pal Dardai will look to take advantage of Bayern following their Champions League game. Berlin will lean heavily on Vedad Ibisevic, who leads the club in scoring this season.
