TNT has the best moment of 2017 NBA All-Star Weekend raising money for #SagerStrong

Former TNT sideline reporter Craig Sager sadly passed away due to cancer last December. The man known for his fancy suits and warm personality is gone, but the fight he stood for is certainly not.

The #SagerStrong Foundation represents the incredible mark he left on the world as he fought through cancer. Tonight, at NBA All-Star Weekend, TNT used the time after the 3-Point Shootout to help remember their beloved colleague.

For every 3-pointer made, $10,000 would be donated to his foundation. That was when Reggie Miller came up and demanded that he became a part of this. Miller proceeded to bring out celebrities, WNBA stars, NBA players in street clothes, and let everyone shoot to try and donate an extra 10,000 to to Sager’s foundation.

The shots that proceeded was the coolest part of the entire weekend, and an extremely emotional moment for everyone in New Orleans — a perfect goodbye for TNT to send to the man they loved so much.

Through 3-point shooting alone, they were able raise the total to $130,000. That by itself would have been a good enough donation with an incredible finish. TNT wanted to raise more money though so they brought out Stephen Curry and said if he could make one halfcourt shot then they would up the donation to $500,000.

Strangely enough, Curry wasn’t able to make the shot and that was a little awkward. Luckily, TNT had a backup plan that honestly they should have just done from the start. Shaquille O’Neal walked out with Craig Sager’s son and helped him throw down a dunk to raise the total to their goal.

Everything about this was staged, but that just didn’t matter to anybody watching. It was the best thing that’s going to happen all weekend and none of us could be happier about it. It was a beautiful moment.
