Advance Auto Parts Clash 2017 results: Joey Logano wins
By Phil Naegely
Joey Logano came from behind to take the checkered flag at the Advance Auto Parts Clash on Sunday.
After rain pushed back Saturday’s originally scheduled Advance Auto Parts Clash to Sunday, the action was worth the wait. Daytona International Speedway was hopping as 17 cars took to the race track. For parts of the race, it looked like a Joe Gibbs Racing car would come away victorious. However, Joey Logano avoided a spin out in front of him as he won his first The Clash event.
Things weren’t looking good for Logano’s chances of winning on Sunday. As the famous saying goes, “it’s not over until the fat lady sings”, and it wasn’t during this year’s event. In an attempt to keep Brad Keselowski from passing his car on the final lap, Denny Hamlin attempted to come inside to block. However, he made the decision to late and caused both cars to spin out on the final lap.
Meanwhile, Logano, who was in third place at the time, took advantage of the incident in front of him. Somehow he was able to avoid causing a bigger wreck and cruised to victory. The battle for second through fourth place was much tighter. Danica Patrick foreshadowed the three-wide racing Daytona International Speedway is known as she came in for her fourth-place finish.
Overall, Sunday’s event was thrilling even though there were only 17 cars on the track. The action was a good appetizer for what is yet to come this week at Daytona International leading up to the Great American Race on Sunday, Feb. 26.

Next: The Clash: Denny Hamlin, Brad Keselowski spin out on final lap
All in all, Logano impressed during most of The Clash. With a little luck on his side, the No. 22 car won his first The Clash event. In a short turnaround, Logano and the rest of the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series drivers shift their focus to the Daytona 500 qualifying.
