NBA Trade Rumors: New Orleans Pelicans in on Demarcus Cousins?
According to Adrian Wojnarowski, the Sacramento Kings have had trade talks regarding All-Star center DeMarcus Cousins with the New Orleans Pelicans.
It wouldn’t be an NBA trade rumor without Adrian Wojnarowski reporting it. With the entire basketball world preparing for the 2017 NBA All-Star Game on Sunday night, Wojnarowski decided to shake things up. The trade deadline in the league is coming up this week and he dropped a bombshell of a report regarding Sacramento Kings center DeMarcus Cousins.
Cousins has been very vocal about wanting to stay with the Kings and the team seemingly has been telling teams for a while he’s not going anywhere. However, Wojnarowski reports that the Kings have been engaging in trade discussions about their All-Star big man.
Where it gets interesting is that he says the team has recently had discussions with the New Orleans Pelicans about a deal. The Pelicans would likely want a dream scenario of teaming up Cousins and Anthony Davis together.
The Pelicans have been looking for years to find that center to pair with their superstar and there’s no doubt having arguably the two best big men in the NBA would do the trick. The front court would be the most dynamic one at that.
The problem for the Pelicans here is the lack of assets they have. There are teams with much better trade assets that could acquire Cousins. They haven’t really hit on many picks in the draft and would almost assuredly have to include Buddy Hield.

It would take an incredible offer that blows away the Kings to land their superstar. However, if they’re willing to engage in talks with other teams it shows that they are listening. The trade rumors are about to be fast and furious over the next few days.
