DreamHack Masters Las Vegas 2017: Virtus.pro wins Grand Final

Virtus.pro rewrote their ending in Sunday’s DreamHack Masters Las Vegas 2017, claiming the second CS:GO Major of the year by outlasting SK Gaming.

One of the best squads in competitive gaming is back on top. The longest-lasting roster in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive redeemed themselves on Sunday night when Virtus.pro claimed the DreamHack Masters Las Vegas 2017 title at MGM Grand Garden Arena.

The Polish squad earned the second Major title of the year and completed a fitting rebound after their tough defeat in last month’s ELEAGUE Major 2017.

Virtus.pro defeated SK Gaming in Sunday’s Grand Final by a score of 2-1. While the Brazilian team jumped out to an early lead by winning Cobblestone handily at 16-8, VP stormed back to capture both Train (16-11) and the deciding map Mirage (16-13).

It capped an almost ideal day for Virtus.pro. Earlier on Sunday, they met their new rivals Astralis in a rematch of the bitterly fought ELEAGUE Major Grand Final. This time the script was reversed as Virtus.pro won 2-1, including a one-sided stomping on Nuke by the score of 16-3 and a serious beatdown on Train at 16-4.

That set up a showdown with SK in the DreamHack Masters Las Vegas Grand Final after SK beat North in the other semifinal 2-0.

But the most impressive story will be the return of Virtus.pro. Their battle with Astralis in Atlanta will go down as one of the best Grand Finals in CS:GO history, and the team was visibly dejected at the end.

On Sunday they not only avenged that loss in impressive fashion but then just hours later went on to create another classic with SK Gaming. If anyone was worried about Virtus.pro, they’ve put those fears to rest.
