Three reasons the Philadelphia 76ers are the real winners of the DeMarcus Cousins trade

The Philadelphia 76ers did not participate in the Demarcus Cousins trade last night, but they ultimately came out at the real winner of last night’s trade.
On Sunday night, the Sacramento Kings traded their best player, Demarcus Cousins, to the New Orleans Pelicans, as reported by Adrian Wojnarowski. The deal was Cousins and Omri Casspi for Tyreke Evans, Langston Galloway, Buddy Hield, and a future first and second round pick.
This has to be one of the Vlade Divac’s worst moves as the Kings GM. The only thing that’s worse is his track record of drafting a center every draft. The Pelicans, on the other hand, made a great deal. Pairing Anthony Davis with Cousins will be a good mix to help the Pelicans make a playoff push.
The nagging question for the Pelicans, though, is are they going to be able to retain Cousins for the foreseeable future. All of the accolades of acquiring another superstar will be lost if he does not sign a max extension with the team and decides to leave in 2018 free agency.
Even though it may seem as if the Pelicans are the real winners in this trade, ultimately the Philadelphia 76ers are the champions of the trade because of three very important reasons.
