On the most American of holidays other than the Fourth of July, American Ninja Warrior is back with another special competition.
American Ninja Warrior is a summer show, which means it actually airs during July, though any Fourth celebrations usually pre-empt a new episode. However, the Fourth isn’t the only American holiday. You see, today is actually Presidents’ Day.
What better way to celebrate than by watching a show that literally has American in the name? Well, okay, you could learn some more about American history, but such history shows usually don’t have hosts like Akbar Gbajabiamila talking about people keeping their L’s.
Hence, tonight marks the airing of the second American Ninja Warrior All-Stars competition. Here are the details straight from NBC:
"American Ninja Warrior celebrates the upcoming season with its second annual “American Ninja Warrior All-Stars” two-hour special. Hosts Matt Iseman and Akbar Gbajabiamila along with co-host Kristine Leahy have each selected their dream teams, which will go head-to head on some of the show’s most popular obstacles. Each of the teams is comprised of three competitors including Las Vegas finalists Jessie Graff, Grant McCartney, and Chris Wilczewski. The teams will go head-to-head for bragging rights and the championship trophy. This nail-biting special episode also features five “supersized” skills and obstacles competitions, including a breathtaking Endless Invisible Climb and a Super Salmon Ladder.”"
The Super Salmon Ladder has shown up in the previous All-Stars competition. It is…or was…a 35-rung monstrosity. However, we have a sneaking suspicion it will be bigger this year.
Kristine Leahy revealed her team to People: Jessie Graff, Flip Rodriguez, and Nicholas Coolridge. That’s a tough team to beat, but Team Matt and Team Akbar will certainly bring the heat.
