Alexa Bliss wins WWE SmackDown Women’s title vacated by Naomi (Video)
Naomi was forced to vacate the WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship due to injury, but the belt was won promptly by Alexa Bliss
Obviously there are a number of main storylines that WWE fans have vast knowledge of heading into WrestleMania 33. However, one of the secondary storylines on WWE SmackDown Live involved a career dream being realized. At Elimination Chamber, Naomi defeated Alexa Bliss to win the SmackDown Women’s Championship—finally. However, her reign was short-lived to say the least.
In her promo one week ago, Naomi expressed briefly that she had an injury that could keep her out for sometime. Still, she accepted a rematch against Bliss. However, that match would never happen. Daniel Bryan came out to open the Feb. 21 episode of WWE SmackDown.
With him out there and then calling out Naomi, it was quite obvious what was about to happen. In an emotional moment, Bryan—a man all too familiar with the receiving end of this exchange—had to ask Naomi to relinquish the title. She obliged through tears, pledging to return and win it again:
However, Alexa Bliss didn’t give the moment much time to breathe at all. She met Naomi on the ring before demanding she receive the Women’s title back. Instead, Bryan said she’d have to earn it. Immediately following, she put Bliss up against Becky Lynch for the vacant belt.
After a strong match, Bliss again proved to be the heelish one of the opponents as she snuck out a win against Lynch. Subsequently, she was crowned the champion for the second time:

Though it was a deserved win at Elimination Chamber for Naomi, this may be better for the title storyline. Having the heel champion is always best for WrestleMania. If nothing else, Alexa Bliss has proven to be that and more.
