As we inch closer to March Madness, we look at who has best chances of making a run out of the Big 12 in this week’s power rankings
Conference play is in full swing, and we now are starting to get a feel for who these teams are and how dangerous they can be in March. The Big 12, like most years, looks to be a strong conference from top to bottom with teams like Kansas, Baylor and West Virginia making the best cases for a high seed in the NCAA Tournament.
This week’s Big 12 power rankings for Week 16 see some of the usual suspects at the top of the list.
Oklahoma did take care of business at home against Texas. They are now 1-1 against the Longhorns now, though, and are still a game back in the conference standings. They went on to blow a nine-point halftime lead this weekend to fall to their in-state rival Oklahoma State, 96-92.
Their win was the first since January 18th, and the looks of their schedule make it tough to see a win heading into the Big 12 tournament. They head to Baylor this Tuesday and will be heavy underdogs, and take on Kansas State, a desperate bubble team in Norman.
Once you think Texas might be able to pull away from Oklahoma, they start a new four-game losing streak, and contend for the worst team in the Big 12 for another week. Texas got out horsed by Oklahoma this week and fell to Kansas State at home this weekend. They went to West Virginia on Monday, a tough place to play and fell short of the task.
The Horns are looking to stay out of the last place, but they have a tough schedule this week. First, they have to take on Kansas, and while that is at home, they then have to head to Lubbock to take on the Texas Tech Red Raiders
